Back in 2012, Jeroen (the founder of Flyparks) started to notice problems in the airport car parking market. There were numerous stories in the media about vehicles getting damaged, cars being incorrectly parked in residential areas, and some even being driven hundreds of kilometres without the owner's permission. All of this made him think.
Although still a student based near Eindhoven Airport in the Netherlands, Jeroen started an in-depth investigation of the situation. He found the results to be decisive. He read, for example, that consumers were being lured to car parks outside of Schiphol Airport, through misleading pricing that quoted just €1.80 per day. The plan to stop this chaos, thereby helping consumers to find the cheapest, but also reliable airport parking provider, was launched.
Just one year later, in 2013, the Dutch platform Vliegen en Parkeren went live. Vliegen en Parkeren allowed Dutch consumers to easily compare reliable airport parking spaces online, and offered full price transparency. After the quick success of the Dutch platform, the company decided to enter the Australian and New Zealand markets, helping travellers in their search for affordable, quality car parking. Since 2019, we have been active in various airports across Australia and New Zealand under the name Flyparks.
